Meet the Characters

Corilu
Fierce and bold, Corilu was never one to back down from a challenge, especially one about morality. With a strong head on her shoulders, a passion for others, and unwavering determination, Corilu seeks to dismantle her world’s foundation of cruelty and save those imperiled by the drācan’s sinister emperor. Although she is half Blitz and half Voltaic, she did not hatch with the ability to breathe fire like her mother or control lightning like her father. She chases after a seemingly impossible destiny…but what if it is not her only destiny?
Zoraan
While not the most outwardly brave drācan, Zoraan is best known for his intelligence, kindness, and unusually keen eye. What he lacks in chattiness, he makes up for in his silent observation of everything around him, picking up on details missed by most. He is not oblivious to social norms. However, he chooses to keep to himself unless he has something to say. Zoraan has odd black scales and a rare mastery of lightning, capable of feats no other Voltaic can achieve, though he doesn't understand why. He has come to accept his charcoal scales and special abilities as what they are, but the idea that their origin might be something greater has never left his mind.

Phiri
Corilu’s closest equivalent to a sister, Phiri is intensely loyal to her oldest friend. Outgoing, playful, and confident, Phiri always tries to keep the mood upbeat, even when she isn’t feeling her best. She finds it easier to stay happy than to dwell in sadness, though she knows from experience how to avoid upsetting others. Phiri has basic control over plants like some Flora do, mainly the ability to grow flowers, and she can be quite stealthy by using the Flora’s ability to camouflage with plants, but her real skill lies in her understanding of others. She knows many tend to underestimate her, and she knows exactly how to play them.
Nivalyss
The adopted brother of Zoraan, Nivalyss has always been quite stubborn and somewhat ornery, though not always due to his circumstances. He tends to be cautious and double or triple-checks every plan or action if he can. Despite that, he tries to be friendly, even though his blunt attitude often pushes away potential friends. Being half Divina and half Verglas, Nivalyss possesses the Divina's powers, such as turning invisible and exhaling a blast of icy mist, but he feels more connected to his Verglas side. Thanks to the drācan’s ability to form lasting memories from a very young age, Nivalyss knows who his parents are. However, he has little desire to learn more about them because their fates led him to Zoraan, and he’s happy with Zoraan’s family as his only family.

Baxxi
Baxxi was always told she was the perfect clone of her mother in looks, and that fact repulses her. As princess and heir to the Virulent throne, Baxxi is no stranger to responsibility; she prefers to dodge those duties when she can, though not because of the responsibilities themselves. Baxxi is witty, somewhat entitled, and maybe a bit tone-deaf, but she often doesn’t realize her own weaknesses until they are pointed out. Despite her desire to escape her mother’s shadow, she unintentionally parrots her in many ways, and deep down, she worries she would become just like her when she takes the throne. As a Virulent of royal blood, Baxxi has impressively potent venom in her fangs, but she rarely chooses to use it and often retracts her fangs to appear less intimidating, much to her mother’s irritation. Baxxi has no love for her odious mother, Birryl, and while she struggles to break free from her influence, she is determined to be better than her.
Siphara
Siphara is a princess, but not the daughter of Queen Atilima; instead, she is the daughter of the queen’s sister, Eméaryn. Despite this, Atilima plans to force the throne onto her rather than bear her own cubs, and Siphara despises every moment of it. Siphara is calm, selfless, and optimistic, rarely influenced by others’ opinions of her, even her own aunt. She is also quite analytical and aims to learn everything she can about how to be a good ruler, including from the worst examples. Siphara was born with a badly kinked tail that makes her incapable of flying; she can only hover. Her twisted tail fins flail in the wind, causing her to tumble into spirals instead of gliding gracefully. Nevertheless, Siphara has made the best of it, becoming a very fast land sprinter in the absence of the Zephyr’s most vital ability. She has no plans to take the throne when Atilima commands her to, and she secretly wants to delay her ascension to further annoy her family. Her deepest desire is to learn everything she can to become the best queen she can be.
